Attractions in Norway

Porsangerfjord and Nordkapp in Norway offer high cliffs and the fresh northern wind. We recommend the Karasjok municipality in Norway, only 18 kilometres away, as a day-trip destination.

Karasjok is home to the Norwegian Sami parliament, Sámediggi, and the oldest wooden church in the Finnmark area, the Karasjok old church, built in 1807. The church was the only building left standing in the village after the Second World War.

One of the most popular attractions in Karasjok is the Sápmi Park theme park, showcasting Sami history and culture. You can see the traditional summer and winter homes of the Sami at the park, feed the reindeer and try the traditional lasso for catching reindeer. The indoor facilities accommodate exhibitions and workshops in Sami handicrafts (duodji), silversmithing and glassblowing. Further information and the daily programme for the summer season are available on the Sápmi Park website at

The Sami Centre for Contemporary Art, Sámi Dáiddaguovddáš, with its museum shop, is also located in Karasjok.
